The CANACCORD
CUP.. A New Tradition !
May Long Weekend,
Annual Event, Kelowna Yacht Club, Kelowna, BC
May 21, 22, 23rd, 2010 Friday - Sunday
Our
Annual May Long weekend sailing regatta previously known as
the Blossom Time Regatta, has been hosted by the Kelowna Yacht
Club for 50 years. This sailing regatta season opener is well
attended by local Okanagan based skippers and crew, as well
as Western Canadian skippers and crew from neighboring provinces.
In its 51st year, Blossom Time Regatta is being renamed to
the CANACCORD CUP and will become a significant fund
raising event for the KYC Youth Sailing & Education program.
The Youth and Education program used to receive a grant to
fund Instructor wages. due to severe government cut backs
this grant is no longer available. Our precious youth Sailing
and Education program is in desperate need of new funding.
The CANACCORD sponsorship makes it possible to turn
an exciting event into a valuable fundraiser.
We
are pleased to announce that local CANACCORD Investment Brokers
: Kevin Letun, Bruce Dickson, Scott Ritchie, Rick Bekkering,
Mark Van Hees and Laurie Bartley have joined forces to donate
$6,000 per year to Sponsor the CANACCORD CUP Regatta.
This generous donation will be repeated for a minimum of 5
years, with an additional 5 years option to renew. In addition
to this generous cash donation, A new CANACCORD trophy
will be presented to the overall regatta winner, and displayed
year round in the Kelowna Yacht Club.
The
CANACCORD Regatta will be organized to attract other
sponsors who can benefit from a valuable marketing opportunity
through exposure for their goods and services. Sailors will
enjoy an opportunity to race for local youth sailors with
race fees being added to the funds raised. The more sponsors
we can attract the more funds we can raise. We can raise funds
for much needed new boats, instructor wages and other costs
to continue to provide exceptional local programs open to
all youth between the ages of 4 and 18 in our community.

your name and contact details in order for us to keep our
valley-wide database of sailors current.

To file a PHRF
appeal or to put a boat on the watch list you must be a current
member of B.C. Sailing. You must file the appeal or watch
list request using the appeal form from the
BC Sailing PHRF web site .
Appeals for 2010 must be submitted
to Tom Guenther by March 8th to
make the April 8th appeals meeting..
Attention
non-KYC sailors
Members of any yacht club or BC Sailing are encouraged
to participate in our racing series and events subject to
the
approval of the race committee and proof of liability insurance.
Sail numbers are required for racing spinnakers.
Due to the difficulty in determining close downwind finishes,
your sailing fleet
committee requires that your sail number be visible on your
spinnaker.
