Sail numbers now required for racing spinnakers.
Due to the difficulty in determining close downwind finishes, your sailing fleet
committee requires that your sail number is visible on your spinnaker.

2009-2012 Racing Rule Changes Explained by US Sailing

NEW Introductory Racing Rules from ISAF

KYC weekly sailing races are conducted by KYC Sailing and Racing Committee.
The races begin in March of each year with Sunday races
until the summer months, Wednesday evening during the summer,
and back to Sunday in the Fall.

All races are conducted on Okanagan Lake.
KYC racing fleet is a large supporter of the club’s events and
sponsors events to enhance the club.
We purchase equipment for the club, youth sailing, youth education
as well as supporting the club’s activities.
The racing fleet consists of all keel boat classes, 525 fleet and white sails.

Adult sailing classes, open to the general public, are conducted by the Sailing Fleet, teaching novice and experienced sailors all aspects of sailing, including on-the-water courses.
Many participants of the Adult Sailing courses have the opportunity to crew on racing boats for scheduled races. KYC Sailing Fleet sponsors two regattas each year which are open to members of other Yacht clubs. Both regattas operate under CYA rules and accommodate keel boats of all sizes, 525 fleet class, and white sails. KYC has the largest Santana 525 fleet in Canada and the Pacific Northwest, (Canada and USA).

Blossom Time regatta
is held the long week-end in May

Commodore’s Cup in August of each year.
- Friday night the club welcomes out of town and local racers with a pre-regatta social and registration.
- Saturday, 5 races are planned on varying courses and Saturday night, racers and members gather for a casual dress dinner and dance with interesting stories of the day.
- Sunday racing continues with 2 more races and then winners are declared with appropriate recognition.
- Special house menu and bar service is always available for the regattas.
