Valentine's at KYC, February 14, 2008 by Barbara Coughlin and James Anderson. We were some of the fortunate members who were able to secure reservations for one of the most enjoyable evenings of the year at KYC. Our club-owned dining room hosted an impressive dinner and entertainment at prices the rest of the Kelowna can only dream about. Their special menu allowed a selection of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, Atlantic fillet of baked salmon and baby shrimp, poached chicken breasts in an ivory sauce or a hot garden vegetarian platter. We had the Atlantic salmon baked in phyllo pastry that was well presented and the expression "to die for" would be very appropriate. The main course was preceded by a "Sweetheart" salad featuring local apples and walnuts, and was followed by a dessert buffet of decadent cheesecakes and pastry. The Don Ross Trio provided dinner entertainment of smooth jazz from the upper lounge and was very well appreciated. Those who weren't able to be there missed an elegant meal with fine entertainment at an shockingly low price of only $19.95. "Club KYC" deservedly remains our favourite restaurant and lounge. Colour photographs from this special evening are on display on the Kelowna Yacht Club website. The next special dining event at KYC is "March Maritime Madness" on March 7th, featuring fresh lobster, crab, prawns and a salad buffet. See you there.
