The TD Canada Trust Boat for Hope provides children who have special needs with a fun-filled day on the water, where they can get a little wet, feel the breeze on their face and maybe even get into a little mischief. Parent’s and caregivers can also enjoy a fun and relaxing day, because we understand that for children and families who have special needs… not every day is smooth sailing. When: Saturday, June 16, 2007
Where: Kelowna Yacht Club and the waters of Lake Okanagan
Who: 150 children who have special needs, their caregivers and the boating community
What: This fun-filled event includes:
.....• a water event - Boaters from throughout the Okanagan generously donate their time and their .....boats and take the young pirates on a charted treasure hunt through the surly waters of Lake .....Okanagan.
.....• a land event - Following the the treasure hunt, the children return to Treasure Island for a .....barbeque lunch, carnival games and other fun activites.
.....• a banquet - The event culminates with an Acknowledgment Banquet to recognize the hard-work .....and dedication that makes Boat for Hope possible.
Why: Boat for Hope is about more than just a day on the water. The event raises significant funds for Variety - The Children's Charity. Corporate and community partners donate funds, products and volunteers to make the TD Canada Trust Boat for Hope a one-of-a-kind experience for B.C. children and their families. Local skippers also raise money by collecting pledges from the community to bring in much-needed funds. Since its inception, the TD Canada Trust Boat for Hope has raised over $500,000 to inspire hope, enrich lives and build a better future for BC's children.
