Youth Summer Sailing Program
The youth summer program runs from July 4th to August 26th every business day. We offer programs for youth aged five to eighteen years old from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The program runs through all statutory holidays. This is a great way to get your children out in the gorgeous Okanagan Sun.
Opti Sail (ages 5-9 years)

This class is an introduction to sailing with the main focus on fun. Students learn with a partner how to balance their boat, how to steer, and how to work their sail. Students also learn the importance of water safety.
Opti Sail 2 NEW THIS YEAR! (ages 7-10 years)

In
this two week course students will be able to develop the skills that they learn in Opti Sail. Students will sail their optis single-handedly in this course, and they will learn how to make the optimist dinghy truly perform with improved sail and boat trim. The primary focus will still be on fun with a concentration on speed.
WHITE SAIL 1 (ages 10-18)

The goal of this course is to introduce beginners to the basics of dinghy sailing. At the end of this course students will be able to rig and de-rig a sailboat, confidently leave and return to the dock, steer the boat and perform simple sail adjustments, and hopefully achieve the first level of Canadian Yachting Association certification. Students will learn these skills in an energetic and positive environment.
WHITE SAIL 2 and 3 (ages 10-18)

In these two week courses, students will improve upon skills learned in White Sail I and further develop their knowledge of safety, terminology, knots, sail and boat trim. By the end of White Sail 3, each student should be able to confidently skipper a sailboat on every point of sail, and through tacking and gybing.
BRONZE SAIL 4 AND 5

Mandatory Textbook - $26.00
Advanced Sailing Skills are the focus of these two week full day courses. Students will learn advanced sail and boat trim, as well as how to really make the boat move. These courses are taught in Bytes, Lasers, 420's, and Laser 2's.

The goal of this course is to learn the basics of racing rules and tactics while polishing boat handling skiils. Students must also join the race team to complete this course.
