The
Kelowna Yacht Club is home to the most competitive
sailing team in the Okanagan. Members of the team compete
at local, provincial, and national level regattas in youth
fleets such as the Optimist, Byte, Laser, Laser Radial,
Club 420, and 29er. During the summer the team trains
three nights a week and competes in regattas on weekends.
Attending up to a dozen regattas annually, our racers
have racked up a significant number of medals.

If you are interested in joining the Youth Race Team please
contact Valerie
Cloutier. Sailors must have achieved their White Sail
III and have permission to join. Those interested in joining
the Opti team must be under fifteen years of age. White Sail
III is not required for the Opti team. |
| Equipment:
All boats are supplied by the Kelowna Yacht Club. The Yacht
Club will make every possible effort to keep equipment in racing
condition. Team members are responsible for any loss or damage
that occurs while equipment is on loan. Team members are also
responsible for their own sailing gear. |

Keel Boat racing opportunities
for Youth Race Team
The newest addition to our fleet of race boats is a Santana
525. The boat, named Schock Therapy, can be seen racing every
Wednesday night with Kent Hardisty at the helm and the senior
race team as crew. Shock Therapy has proved to be a competitive
boat with the skilled race team members aboard. Watch out
for them this summer!
Race team members are encouraged to crew on Wednesday night
keelboat races. Racing on a variety of different boats provides
youth with a variety of experiences and a wealth of knowledge.
And its fun! If you are looking to pick up a member of the
