About
the Show The Boat & Leisure Show will be held April 18 and 19, 2009. Originally begun as a water-based show in the Kelowna Yacht Club moorage basin, it has now expanded to include the water-based exhibits and the parking lots surrounding the Yacht Club, which is located in downtown Kelowna across from City Hall on Water Street. Since the Kelowna Yacht Club is a registered non-profit society, costs are kept to a minimum and the net proceeds from exhibitor fees are used to fund the maintenance and expansion of a system of public mooring buoys anchored strategically in bays and sheltered areas on Okanagan Lake. These buoys are freely available for anyone to use and are widely enjoyed by boaters from all areas, including tourists unfamiliar with safe anchorages. The Club currently maintains 23 buoys between the William R. Bennett bridge and Caesars Landing and has applied for government approvals to install ten more on the east side of the lake. Dates
and Location For the first time, due to increasing demand for exhibition space and the Citys plans to develop Jim Stuart Park on the waterfront, the Show will expand to the paved lot beside City Hall. The site includes the marina at the Kelowna Yacht Club at 1414 Water Street in downtown Kelowna as well as the three parking lots surrounding the Club. See this site map for the Show location and venues. Parking Accommodations |

Information: The boat docks are home to the floating boat show, with new boats, houseboats, dock systems and used boats. Our boat basin also features some interesting displays from the City of Kelowna Fire and Rescue Boat, Coast Guard and RCMP patrol vessels. Many dealers use their floating exhibits to give potential customers a chance to test their new boat and thus close the sale. Adjoining the Clubhouse are two parking lots filled with exhibitors and food vendors. This year, the Show has also expanded across Water Street to the City Hall parking lot, where participants will find more exhibits as well as food vendors and the Community Corner, featuring displays and booths by local water and leisure-oriented community organizations and clubs. Additional live entertainment is being planned for that lot during both days to help attract participants. Commissionaires will be directing traffic to help pedestrian access. |
