Why Exhibit at the KYC Boat & Leisure Show?

  • The KYC Boat & Leisure Show has seen some exciting growth in the past few years and exhibitors continue to report significant sales results from every Show. We are now the largest boat show between Vancouver and Calgary and normally attract 15,000 visits over the two days. Two hundred attendees were surveyed at the 2008 Show and we learned that:
  • 59% of our visitors are male and 41% female;
  • More than two-thirds (69%) are between the ages of 40 and 59 while those in the 60+ bracket (12%) are almost matched by those aged 30-39 years (10%);
  • The vast majority – 65% – reside in Kelowna, followed by 11% from Westbank and 6% are from outside the Okanagan valley (other BC locations). Vernon and Lake Country residents represented 3% and 4% respectively and some of the other provinces which were represented include Ontario and Alberta.
  • Most of our attendees (55%) have household incomes over $75,000, followed by household incomes of $32-60,000 (20%) and $61-74,000 (17%);
  • 63% of attendees already own boats;
  • Of the 37% who do not already own a boat, 56% plan on buying one within an average of a year and a half;
  • Most (93%) visit the docks to take in the exhibits of the floating show.

After doubling our advertising in 2008, we are once again making a significant increase in the amount of advertising and promotion throughout the Okanagan Valley. Our expanded advertising program is not only exciting for the Boat Show and the Kelowna Yacht Club, but will also offer our exhibitors a significant opportunity as well. Exhibitors will be able to take advantage of special pricing to advertise their particular products and we will again be looking for interesting products to highlight in articles in this publication.

All of our exhibitors will be listed on our website (see the “Who’s Exhibiting” tab at the top of this page) and if you have a website, we will include that information on our list at no charge. Exhibitors will also be listed in our site guide distributed at the Show.

Because of the increasing exhibitor interest in the Show, coupled with City of Kelowna plans to eventually transform one of our exhibit areas into parkland, we have negotiated additional paved space in the City Hall parking lot right across the street from the Kelowna Yacht Club. This new space is paved, nicely sheltered with trees and well-lit, although power is not available this year. This lot will allow for a huge amount of expansion in future years and exhibitors who choose to locate their display/booth in this area in 2009 will benefit over the years as the Show focus shifts to that lot. While this expansion is across the street from the other lots, we will be adding signage and live entertainment in that lot throughout the Show. Also, highly visible crosswalk and crossing control staff will ensure participants are safely ushered to the new lot.

Look at the Value!
Why should you become an exhibitor? It’s very simple! Our Club mandate is to promote public enjoyment of boating and other leisure activities and so our costs are kept extremely low and we pass these savings on. Since most of our spaces cost $250 for the two-day show, you can reach 15,000 potential customers for just 1½ cents per person!
