Bridging
Communities Celebration, May 25, 2008
Parade
of Boats
A combined
fleet of approximately 35 power and sail boats representing the
Kelowna and the Westbank Yacht Clubs,
3 dragon boats, 1 war canoe, 1 kayak and the Fintry Queen all
led by KYC commodore Jack Kavanagh
braved strong winds and rain to help celebrate the opening of
the new William R. Bennett bridge.
While weather
conditions were less than ideal, the high spirits of the skippers
and crews that participated made lite of the situation.
Among the
parade participants were 3 members of Kelowna Squadron - CPS:
Greg Winton, Leo Van Pelt and Will Stelzer
and their crews who provided the necessary course outline to provide
order for the procession.
Thanks to
all who took the time to ensure that KYC's participation will
be forever recorded in the pages of Kelownas history books.
